Each family is asked to have at least 30 service hours each year. This provides many opportunities for parents to be involved in every aspect of their child's education. They can help serve lunch, help on the playground, serve on committees, help with classroom activities, and so on. This program allows us to keep service-related costs down while allowing parents to interact with their child their child's friends and other parents, building the kind of family atmosphere that has become a trademark of Sacred Heart School.
Sacred Heart School is very strict in adhering to the Diocese's Policy in protecting our children by having all of our volunteers attend the VIRTUS PROTECTING GOD'S CHILDREN Program. This program is mandatory before you can beging volunteering. Please review the diocesan requirements and forms necessary on our PROTECTING GOD'S CHILDREN page.
The program begins by making adults of the school that interact with children aware of how to protect children. The PROTECTING GOD'S CHILDREN program for adults is a three to four hour awareness session that instructs adults of the school that interact with children that to protect children you must have continuous awareness and vigilance. This awareness session makes trainees understand the signs of child sexual abuse, the methods and means by which offenders commit abuse and five empowerment steps one can use to prevent child sexual abuse.
I am very happy that I chose Sacred Heart School 17 years ago for my children. SHS is our family. Wonderful friendships have been made and treasured. I wrote my very last tuition payment with mixed feelings.
